Sognando The
first real journey I had into my piano portraits began with the
process of grieving for the person closest to me in my life. I
went into a trance-like state, and started to compose all through
the night for a period of weeks. In this piano piece, I believe
that I recreated the spirit of my brother and brought him back to
life in the form of music.
This incredibly strong and uncontrollable impulse a created piece
of music that amazed both myself and others. When this piece was
played, it had formed a life of its own. It began as an improvisation while I was studying piano at the
Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. When it was completed,
a few months later, it won the London College of Music composition
prize. It was then selected to be broadcast on B.B.C. Radio 3,
and has subsequently been performed in various parts of the world.
It is called 'Sognando' (Italian for dreaming).
Stone Portrait
Stone Portrait is a meditation on a stone that was brought from the Tsunami area to the UK by Caroline Keane (stone carrier)
Blue Window
My most recent memorial portrait was for Benjaya, an angel child,
who was born in water, and died in water, when he was five.
I will let Benjaya`s
mother Carmella, tell you the magical story herself. It is a recording
made from a live performance, where Carmella was invited to introduce
Benjaya`s song - 'Blue Window'.
